The occasion honours national unity, resilience, and preparedness, commemorating the January 2022 attacks on Abu Dhabi while highlighting Emirati courage and the enduring bond between leadership and citizens.

Residents across the country witnessed the dramatic aerial displays, which were organised by the UAE Armed Forces in collaboration with the Emirates Knights Air Show.

The national air parade featured a diverse fleet of military jets and helicopters flying in V-shaped formations over Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah.

The Fursan Al Emarat, the UAE National Aerobatic Team, performed precise manoeuvres that symbolised unity and strength, sending a message of cohesion throughout the nation.

Authorities ensured that designated locations were set up for safe viewing, allowing residents to experience the event across beaches and corniches in the Emirates.

Day of Solidarity

The Day of Solidarity reflects on the tragic 2022 Houthi attacks on Abu Dhabi, which targeted civilian infrastructure. The assault resulted in three deaths and six injuries following explosions at Musaffah ICAD 3 and a construction site near Abu Dhabi International Airport.

During the flypast, residents recorded the event on their devices while others observed in respectful silence, reflecting on the significance behind the display. The event allows the UAE’s people to express unity, loyalty, and gratitude for their country’s safety and resilience.

Statements from President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum underlined the occasion’s role in celebrating the UAE’s shared values and collective responsibility.

The Day of Solidarity has now become an annual observance, serving as both an educational and emotional experience for residents while honouring the nation’s readiness, courage, and enduring strength.
